Let's. Do. This. - Offseason Edition

The Niners came out fast and furious last night, though not exactly bold.

J.T. O'Sullivan (looking pretty in his Frankfurt Galaxy uni) is a local boy and played under Martz last year in Detroit. Looks like a very solid pickup, especially considering that he's being paid the veteran minimum and Dilfer is likely to retire in a couple weeks.

DeShaun Foster? Well he never lived up to expectations in Carolina, but really he's just a backup & special teamer anyway. I always liked him at UCLA, so I kind of like to see him here now.

Allen Rossum, seen above returning a kickoff against your very own 49ers, has been expected to sign for about a week now. It seems like a reach to this extremely partial observer. Bringing in a return guy who's past his prime wasn't exactly gold last year (hi, Michael Lewis!) and I'm not expecting much this year. But if he can hold on to the ball and avoid running backwards, well that's better than a lot of returners.

Dontarrious Thomas? Well who the hell knows. But if he was a 2nd rounder out of Auburn, I tend to think he's got potential to be a player. We'll see.

Justin Smith visits today. Worth signing? I think so. But I really wish Jared Allen had been available. If they sink too much money into Smith, it may be tough to make a run at Allen next off-season.

Niners Have Smith Through 2010...

Smith's parents relieved he's not moving home anytime soon.

Seriously. I want the guy to get it done, but at some point we may have to admit that we have another Joey Harrington, or David Carr, or Akili Smith.

YouTube seems to think it's the offensive line:

Hopefully Martz will be able to help the kid out. He's gotten a tough draw with a new OC every year. Still, he hasn't shown much.

The Sting Has Worn Off... I Think

Time to get this baby up and rolling again. Stay tuned...

Norv Does It Again

On Sunday we were reminded again why we need Norv Turner back. Not only did his team beat the Indianapolis Colts, thus securing the Niners the 28th pick in the draft rather than the 31st. But he did it in incredibly unspectacular fashion, thus advancing the Bring Norv Back movement.

Norv, please keep up the great work.

We miss you.

Niners Friday: We're Sorry, Too

Nancy's Gay's piece today pretty much sums it up.

Oh, and the stadium in Santa Clara is screwed up again. Those Yorks sure know how to run a top-notch organization.

Niners Thursday: Is It Over yet?

Mixed it up a little yesterday. Today let's catch up on the happenings around the team:
That's about it fo the link-fest that was today's post. Just a reminder to get your madlib letters to the 49ers. Hell, if you cc me, I'll post them up here, too. Creativity, folks. That's the ticket.
